Mindfulness Community of Milwaukee

What is a Sangha?

I take refuge in the Buddha
... The one who shows me the way in this life.

I take refuge in the Dharma,
the way of understanding and love.

I take refuge in the Sangha,
the community that lives in harmony and awareness.

"Dharma and the Sangha are the doors through which we enter the heart of the Buddha."

"When we take refuge in the Sangha, we focus our energies on building a community that dwells in mindfulness, harmony and peace."
— Teachings by Thich Nhat Hanh
A sangha is a group of individuals who come together to study And to practice mindfulness and meditation.

The Mindfulness Community of Milwaukee is a Buddhist sangha that follows the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh, a Vietnamese Buddhist monk who founded the monastic community, Plum Village, in Southwestern France.

Our sangha meets weeklyfor sharing and discussion of readings, video and audio tapes of Buddhist materials, especially those by Thich Nhat Hanh. This time of sharing is followed by sitting and walking meditation. We also offer half days and whole days of mindfulness, and we will be offering other opportunities for mindfulness community practice at our new practice center.
