  1. Do you have mindful retreats that last for several days to a week? Also do you have silent retreats? If so, could you give me an idea of cost and what might be available in the summer of 2015? Thank you so very much.

    Namaste and in friendship,

    Jenny 🙂

    • Thank you for your interest. The Milwaukee Mindfulness Center does not have extended retreats. We sponsor a Day Of Mindfulness a couple of times a year but they are typically only daylong events.

    • The Monday Night Meditation group meets the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Mondays at the Park Place Center. There is no cost, donations are accepted. Actually, the group skips the second Monday of the month.

  2. Most of our groups are suitable for newcomers. If you are new to meditation consider attending one of our orientation groups, I give one on the third Thursday of the month at the South Side location, starting at 6pm. Or just pop in early on a Thursday evening and I’ll give you the short course. I’m always there by 6:30. Otherwise, just come to one of the regularly scheduled groups, introduce yourself and someone will fill you in. It’s not hard and we have no rules merely customs. The only thing you really need to bring is your breath.

  3. While we don’t have a formal childcare setting, children are always welcome. Depending on the age of the child, on Sundays there is always someone willing to take the child to our lower room and play/sit with them while you join us. Or if the child can sit somewhat quietly with us, that’s fine too. The other groups on weekday nights, you might find it not so easy but we’ll manage somehow.

  4. Thanks for this helpful sketch. I’m new to this practice, but it fits well with feelings and perceptions about being with nature. I’ll try to transfer those feelings to indoors, and to body.

    • OK, our next introduction to meditation at the Park Place center is Sunday, January 25th at 12:15pm. Our next intro session at the Marian Center is Thursday January 15th at 6pm. You’re welcome to drop in to either of them.

    • We can always accommodate children. We don’t offer any group classes but we are happy to work with children on a case by case basis.

    • Mindfulness is appropriate for all ages, we just approach it in different ways for different age children. Most teenagers won’t have a problem with one of our introduction to meditation classes and if they’re interested all of our groups will welcome them. Please bear in mind though, no one can be compelled to meditate. They have to want to.

  5. This article about “Meditation” is so easy to understand to the people like me from other native language. Author, You are doing a good work. This is just another reason why I like your article. I like your style of writing . thank you.

  6. Hello, I know that Paul mentioned this past sunday (5/31/15) he was going to hold a meditation instruction on wednesday at 7pm. did he mean wednesday June 3rd, or wednesday june 10th?
    thanks,
    Dan

  7. Hi there. I am interested in learning more but unfortunately cannot attend the 3rd Sunday session on the 19th. Do you host any other sessions for those that want to learn more?

    • We also offer basic meditation instruction at 6pm on the third Thursday of every month at our Marian Center location. Otherwise, I try to make myself available for people at other times. You may email me directly at jbarrett10@wi.rr.com and I’m sure we can work something out.

  8. An aquataince told me there were some mindfulness meetings for addicts, but I forgot the days and times. Thank you for your help.

    • We have a Mindful Recovery Group at Park Place that meets on Thursdays at 12:15. It is NOT an AA group but welcomes people with any addiction or who choose to live their lives free of intoxicants. We also have an 11th step meeting that meets at Park Place on Sundays at 6:30pm.

  9. I am new to attending the Mindfulness person. As a new person, what do you recommend I attend to meet some of the people there and learn more about the Center?

    Thank you.

    • If you are familiar with meditation you can attend any of our groups, new comers are always welcome. If you would like instruction on our way of meditation and an introduction to the center and how we do things you should feel free to attend the third Thursday session at 6pm at the Marian Center. The next one will be this Thursday, the 19th. We have a regular group that meets at 7pm if you want to stay for it.

  10. Hi, I was just wondering if the Thursday night meditation round will take place tomorrow night (Aug 11) and is open to new members. How much does it cost to attend? And how about the Saturday session? Thanks so much!

  11. I am interested in becoming a Buddhist because I know it saves so I will be in contact when I have 375 dollars for me and my fiance. Do you take paying installments?

    • You do not have to take the class or be a Buddhist to attend the Mindfulness Center. If you are familiar with meditation come to any of our groups. If you are not, find our introduction classes on the website. There is a monthly class that is offered on the 3rd Thursday of each month at our south side location. It is donation based or free if you need.

    • Of course. I also have such problems and often sit during walking meditation. Our teacher, Thich Nhat Hahn says we can “become one” with someone who is walking and co-ordinate our breathing with their stepping _()_

    • Yes we will have meditation at Southgate on Thursdays and probably Tuesdays all summer. We do not offer yoga at that location.

  12. All of these are great gifts to us, thank you. Great quality too.
Besides downloading onto my laptop, I’ve recorded some onto my phone’s voice notes. An option for meditation is a tap away.

  13. Where should a person completely new to all of this begin? Would you suggest the third Sunday meeting in January as a starting place?

    • The next beginner’s class will be in the fall. However you could arrange to get meditation instruction before that and attend any of our regular sessions. Let us know what you need

      Paul Norton.

  14. Hello, I’m interested in the Sunday morning 8am-9:30 am sitting and walking meditation and discussion. Which location us that held?
